Alphabet Thanks
This one is lots of fun. It's great with kids or to do in a group taking turns. It's also a great way to count your blessings as an adult. It's as simple as going through the letters of the alphabet and giving thanks for something that begins with each letter. Here's my example:
Thank you God for
A autumn colors
B beautiful sunsets
C crisp mornings
D days when I get my work done
E enough to live on
F family and friends
G good food to eat
H health and happiness
I information available at my fingertips
J joints that still move in spite of pain
K Klemmedson, the name and family I claim
L love that never ends and laughter that lifts my spirits
M moments of peace
N new ideas, new ways of doing things, new friends, new experiences
O openness to life as it happens
P principles to live by
Q quality of life
R restoration and reconciliation
S social media as a means of staying in tough and sharing my faith
T transportation, especially when it doesn't break down
U unmerited, unearned, undeserved, unlimited, unconditional agape love that is your grace, O God
V violins, violas and violoncellos as well as other musical instruments
W willing workers who take time to help
X xerox machines and other office equipment that make my job so much easier
Y YOU, of God, because without You, the rest of this list would not exist
Z zebras, I do love zebras!
Doing that exercise even took me by surprise with some of my list. You can see that the letters might inspire a variety of styles or responses.
Another way to use alphabet thanks is by categories. Again, this is a fun way to offer thanks with children or any age group and even on your own. How about a round of thanks for a alphabet's worth of food at the dinner table?
